Former sewer queen, Amber led a brief reign of terror blocking storm drains and stealing from grocery stores. A hideous case 53 and vagrant.

Character Sheet

Appearance

Five foot two, with a pale green complexion. Her "hair" consists of eight arms, green with orange stripes, independently capable of movement but only slowly. (If her tentacles are cut/torn off they grow back over the course of a month.) Her neck is thick with muscles that serve to balance the additional mass. Her skin is vaguely reptilian, more like the belly of a lizard than its scales. Ugly features from poor eating/lack of hygiene, with a few patches where skin looks like its being shed. Her teeth grow through and between her upper and lower lip in a permanent toothy grin.

Civies: A plain white tank top and pair of shredded jeans. Heavy metal T-shirts and second hand trousers.

Costume: a vest and coat made from fabric that's had her power applied to it. It looks like a rough sort of coat made from crocodile skin or charcoal, and comes with matching trousers.

Mentality

Capricious, with certain words and phrases reminding her of her old life and triggering sudden kinship or anger. Haughty, proud of her appearance despite how far she's fallen. Some days she'll be willing to accept guests, other times she'll seal herself away through the use of her power, locking herself away in her "room" and listening to her radio.

Power

By opening her nyctating membrane (her eyes open a second time, sideways, with the little people eyelids peeling back to show two scary orange glowing ones. A small and faintly visible (can't be seen in daylight, can at night/in the dark) beam will mark a patch of "nonliving" (including Worn clothing, prosthetics, glasses, and contact lenses) material. (smaller as you grow nearer to her, but no larger than two circular metres at no further a distance than one hundred and fifty metres as the crow flies, the maximum range starting at her feet and ending at a horizontal distance of a hundred and fifty metres from where she is standing)

Marked patches will have a sort of slimy mold sprout on them, a vivid amber in colouration. This mold is sticky and can't be shaken off, though it can be peeled off with little effort, coming off in one big piece.

Once she closes her nyctating membranes an effect spreads. The first bit of mold to grow is immediately effected, and the last bits are effected ten seconds after the first thing regardless of how long she spent marking things.

This effect causes the mold to grow over the course of five seconds, swelling into a series of hexagonal "scales" that vary in size between 1 and 10 centimetres cubed, clinging to whatever they grew from with a force that reacts to internal efforts to displace it (Brutes flexing won't break it off. They'll have to tear/scrape/smash it off) The Scales are durable, but will shatter with force similar to a blow from a sledgehammer. The outside edge of the Scales in a given patch is weak enough to be pulled off one at a time by human hand. The Scales are very lightweight, and will not hinder people. The side of the Scale that was attached to something is vaguely sticky, wet, and organic looking, but can't attach to anything else once peeled off. The side of the Scale facing outwards is grey and dry, resembling charcoal. Over the course of two days worth of sunlight or one day unattached from the surface it grew from, a Scale will crumble into a white powery ash.

Blindness will not affect her power, so long as her eyes are intact enough they'll send out the little orange light. Any of Amber's eyes can, if removed, be used as an ingredient for some sort of tinkertech laser that recreates her power. If Amber has been left blind/powerless for more than a fortnight (two weeks), her body will change to accommodate this, with her hair tentacles changing over the course of a further week into independently blinking eyestalks that can use her power.
