Local news reported breaking news -- a shootout between drug runners and Mounties up on the border. No real information has been released publicly but sources at DPD suggest the PRT has already claimed jurisdiction over the investigation.

Character Sheet

Appearance

Gretchen is a teenage girl of average height and build, with blue eyes and brown hair kept in a bunlike thingy. While occasionally branching out into new styles, you'll usually just see her rocking Hoot Chic. She'd make an excellent extra in a movie.

Her cape costume consists of vaguely Greco-Roman armor provided by Devilfish:Phalanx, along with a big spear.

Equipment and Resources

She lives with her parents, on the Colony, and has the resources you'd expect.

Quiet, teenage rebellion tempered with a healthy serving of anxiety. Relieved to be picked last during gym class.

Power

Trigger type: Single, natural trigger

When not moving she causes wisps of black smoke to leak from the ground within her vicinity (about ten feet), seeping first into loose objects and then into more fixed things like trees and small structures, granting telekinetic control over those objects to her. This is limited to either fine control and slow speed, such as holding a shell of objects around herself as reactive/ablative armor, or fast and unguided, such as hurling things at those within sight with the force of a small hurricane.

Trees can't be uprooted or excessively animated, but can be moved freely within their range of motion and similarly walls can't be molded but doors can be held shut or opened.

Backstory

At first it was just sneaking out here and there, with the other kids of the Colony, just hanging out and stuff. Then someone brought a couple bottles, then cigarettes, and pretty soon Gretchen found herself hanging out with English friends-of-friends. It was all pretty unfamiliar to her, her parents had always been more conservative than most, but they all seemed so nice and confident and cool that she couldn't help being drawn in.

Fast forward, fast forward.

She got caught a few too many times sneaking out, and there'd been a family argument. Mom saying she was going to get shunned or killed or worse by "those scoundrels", there'd been an argument, she'd stormed off and called them to get picked up. McGinnis (he went by his last name) showed up, they'd driven off, she'd vented. He suggested she ride along with him, he was popping up across the border, and she didn't think to ask why he was going to Canada at ass o'clock.

Hence it was a surprise, several hours later on a jeep trail in the middle of nowhere, when berries and cherries popped up all around the place? McGinnis decides its a good time to 1) mention the fuckton of illegal shit they're carting across the border, and 2) decides to make a run for it while shooting out the window at the cops.

Which goes well.

About a minute later, Gretchen is sitting in the passenger seat, the entire front of the truck caved in after veering off the road, already shot twice with more bullets flying every which way, trying not to pass out from pain when she realizes Mom was right about getting killed. And that'd the last thing she remembered.
