A teenager in wannabe anarchist apparal has been spotted going around the alleys and back roads of town. Occasionally carrying small game with them, but always carrying some variant of tinkertech firearm. And there are some vague pictures of her while surrounded by black spheres all around while talking to capes and other shady figures. Some deeper searches on the internet for tinker weaponry supposedly allow for the tinker to be contacted.

Character Sheet

Appearance

Christie has shoulder length brown hair tied into a tail. Wearing lightly faded, comfortable clothes with a coat shielding her from the elements somewhat. She also has an aura about her that makes it clear she doesn't want to deal with anyone's shit.

While in her 'cape identity', the color scheme of her outfit goes all black and has her put on a hood and black cap alongside a scarf or bandana to cover the lower half of her face. She also has a sort of tablet hanging from her side.

Tinkertech

Proto pistol configuration

  • Appearance = A blocky pistol gun made out of a black material black with a large slot for the mass generator on the bottom of the barrel.
  • Abilities = Can fire cubes of matter by heating them up and then firing them using electromagnetism. These shots' impacts are about on par with rubber bullets.

Up to eight of these shots are stored at the front of the gun when in use. And a new one is made about every 5 seconds.

The shots remain accurate up to about 10 meters.

  • Notes = Memento's first weapon. Born from the necessity to have something for self defense, and to help with hunting in the nearby forest to not have to beg for food.

Snap-Snare

When something passes between the two halves of the cylinder and interrupts the light, they will launch themselves at the triggering creature at different angles. Opening up mid flight to reveal a steel cord between the halves to then wrap around the target from both sides. Not unlike how a bola works. Magnetising to eachother to keep it tight.

  • Duration = Like all Memento tech, it comes with a hard 2 week time limit between being maintained, or its internals annihilate themselves.
  • Notes = Useful for both hunting and setting traps for capes Memento doesn't want to deal with.

Build-a-block barricade

  • Appearance = A grey box encased in a black frame. Space for two AA batteries on the side.
  • Abilities = When put on the ground, it will create a 1.5x5x0.10 meter slab of their powered matter with a supported base over the course of 10 seconds. Enough space being created for a person to hide behind after 3 seconds.
  • Duration = Like all Memento tech, it comes with a hard 2 week time limit between being maintained, or its internals annihilate themselves.

ARES rifle frame

It fires perfectly straight with no recoil, and remains lethal for several hundred meters. The device has two modes. Semi automatic and burst. The latter firing in bursts of 4 shots.

The internals have been covered in a significantly more conductive layer, followed by one that is the exact opposite. Acting as a 'shield' of sorts against electromagnetic pulses. The energy instead charging up the energy cell currently inside the weapon.

  • Duration = Like all Memento tech, it comes with a hard 2 week time limit between being maintained, or its internals annihilate themselves.
  • Notes = A commission for the mafia. Memento maintains one for herself for self defense purposes.

ETNA detonation frame

The first accelerates spheres of powered matter slightly over the size of a baseball at targets using electromagnetism. Exploding a second after impact. A new 'grenade' being made every 5 seconds. These can also be ejected via a latch for throwing instead of firing.

The second functions more like a grenade launcher. Launching a superheated tube of matter that explodes upon impact with a bit of slowly burning matter attached to the back for thrust. Travelling at around 100 meters per second after launch. A new 'rocket' is made every 10 seconds.

VANGUARD turret spheres

  • Appearance = Black spheres the size of a baseball with grey reflective lines running across the surface. Has four lenses in the cardinal directions, and expands to be the size of a melon with four 'legs' and a gun at the front when deployed.
  • Abilities = Can be configured to either fire blocks of material at low speeds for non lethal takedowns, or switch to firing 'bullets' that are about the equivalent of handgun bullets. Firing every second regardless of mode.

Target acquisition is done by firing at anyone who is not Memento or in a small database of people.

Kinetic Battery

  • Appearance = A deep red material with a reflective surface.
  • Abilities = For most intents and purposes, this material absorbs 80% of the energy imparted on it by spontaneous impacts. Being near identical to hardened steel otherwise aside from being around three quarters of the weight. Being able to get bent under continuous pressure for instance. Though it does not melt.

Impacts to the material cause it to store up the energy impacting it. Holding it inside until an electrical current is applied, at which point it will release said energy on the next impact in the form of intense vibrations imparted on the impacting object.

Should an impact force be greater than 5000 newtons (basically a smack from a strong brute or a sledgehammer), the material will flicker and fade 5 seconds later. During this time, stored energy can still be released.

  • Notes = This material generally takes longer to make than Memento's other materials.

Microburst

This material allows it to store kinetic energy from impacts. With the handle having two triggers. One to eject the blade if gets bent, and another to create an electric current to trigger the release.

Additionally, the sheathe contains a secondary system that generates explosive charges inside, detonated by a trigger on the sheathe. Effectively allowing the holder to launch the sword handle out and charging the kinetic battery material a bit while drawing it with extreme speed. Allowing the wielder to cut with half a dozen times more force than a regular person. With a somewhat reduced effects for brutes. Being able to just about double it.

Some simple scanners

  • Appearance = A glove meant for the right arm and an accompanying bracer. The side of the bracer having three small bulges to hold black, bulbous drones.
  • Abilities = The gauntlet can generate and operate a series of small drones, mainly meant for the sake of scanning powers in use and powered materials.

The drones can move about 5 meters away from Memento and are controlled via a small keypad on the bracer. Power data being kept in an internal memory that can be accessed via USB cable.

GAP Storage Space

  • Appearance = A matte black plastic tablet with a pale blue panel at the front. It also has some buttons set into the bottom. Sunk slightly into the device to prevent accidental presses. Comes with clips or straps depending on where she's wearing it to fasten it over/under her clothes.
  • Abilities = The device acts as a storage device for Memento's tech. Being able to store devices being made at least a third out of Memento's power matter by volume and sending them to a pocket space.

Devices can be chosen to take out through the buttons on the tablet. Or by giving the proper commands through the same gauntlet Memento uses for her scanning drones.

Devices stored in this fashion may not exceed a combined 10 kilograms in weight of non powered matter, and 50 kilograms of powered matter. (Items with negative mass just count as having 0.

  • Notes = Made with a scan taken of Flicker's pocket dimension subpower. Probably also helps not looking like she's prepared for war and get the PRT called on her when she doesn't want to.

Inverse Mass

The material's main property come into effect seconds after exiting the generator, its density dropping sharply before eventually stabilising at negative 22570 kg per cubic meter, or the density of osmium inversed.

  • Duration = Around an hour post creation, or until coming into contact with oxygen. Which causes it to turn into a gas and expand rapidly for a second before fading.
  • Notes = Made using a scan from Scoria's flight power.

Gravity Harness

  • Appearance = A matte grey harness + thin body armor combination. The majority being covered in red plates while active. Though it is meant to be worn under one's clothes.
  • Abilities = The harness has two sets of matter generators. Some for the inverse mass, and some for the kinetic battery. The latter covering the vital areas and acting as bracing while the former are spaced throughout the suit. Allowing for some decent protection and also for its other function.

The harness' capacity for inverse mass can be regulated. Allowing the wearer to effectively choose how much they weigh. The average person having about 50 kg of leeway for wanting zero gravity or to fall upwards.

The harness also expells small amounts of inverse mass to help orientate and move the wearer in the air.

  • Notes = I don't really want Memento to go anywhere with power armor, and this seemed like a good option to still give her some protection.

Mentality

Christie is a very self sufficient person. Having been forced to grow up rapidly. She does have a caring side, but is willing to take zero bullshit from anyone these days. They also have rapidly gained an aversion to authority. Especially those that try to use said authority over her.

Power

Memento is a focal tinker focused around cores that can produce a near infinite amount of semi stable powered matter. And while they aren't required to, this is expressed mainly in devices that create or use single use items made mainly or fully of said powered matter because of their temporary nature.

The material's base qualities:

  • It is an oily viscous liquid up until exposed to oxygen. Quickly solidifying to gain most of the qualities of basalt, with about half its weight.
  • It will remain stable on its own for about a day, before warping, then disappearing in a flash of light.
  • The matter becomes an excellent conductor when heated above 500 degrees celcius. And can be manipulated via a sufficiently strong electromagnetic field.
  • Once heated above 1000 degrees celsius, it will glow white hot, and when impacted/impacting/pressurised with with the force of about a regular person's punch, it will explode with a force similar to nitroglycerin.

Backstory

Christie grew up as the oldest sibling of a family of six. Her, three younger siblings and her parents. Her father was fine, if a bit absent with how he was often off at work.

Her mother though? 'Lazy entitled bitch' would be putting it lightly. She made Christie do everything. Cleaning the house, doing the dishes, looking after her siblings? All her job while their mother watched tv. And on top of that, she had to finish every single chore before she could start doing anything for school. So she'd sometimes just not have time or energy for homework, then arrive at school the next day, completely exhausted. Which started to get especially bad once more of her siblings grew up into teenagers.

Her grades took the hit from all the extra effort she had to put in, which in turn got her berated more and more often by her mother.

She wasn't even surprised when she managed to collapse from exhaustion during exams once.

Knowing that she quite simply wouldn't be able to survive college and taking care of 5 people at once, Christie instead got herself a part time job. And for the first time in years, the workload was bearable. Hell, she could even save up a bit to buy herself something nice!

So she decided to treat herself one day as a reward for her own work. (Since her mother obviously wouldn't.) A nice lunch followed by going out to get herself a small necklace. A little silver thing.

The first thing her mother decided when she saw it was that Christie had stolen it. Apparantly it didn't matter if it was money that she had earned, all money in her bank account apparantly automatically belonged to her mother instead.

In the resulting shouting match, something broke in Christie. Barely even noticing anything had changed as she went upstairs to pack her belongings. Her mother on the phone calling the police and reporting her for theft and apparantly also assault when she came down and stormed out of the door. Not that she'd hit or even pushed her. It wasn't until sitting down at a friend's place that she realised that something had changed.
